About This Station

The Davis Vantage Pro weather station was purchased by a grant from the Rooney Foundation. Data is collected roughly every 2 seconds and is uploaded to the web site every 5-7 seconds. This site and its data is collected using Weather Display software. The station comprises of an anemometer, rain gauge and a thermo-hydro sensor, and a solar sensor situated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

The weather station is housed on top the Peter Engel Science Center on the Saint John's University Campus.  It has an altitude of 1200 feet and is precisely located at 45 34' 54" N - 94 23' 46" W

About it's Function

The data is used to provide accurate weather information to the campus and off campus community members.  The historical data is used by the Natural Science areas in research and academic work including studies of pollen release by ragweed and other wind-pollinated plants.  Along with collecting data locally, it also publishes out to external sites like the Weather Underground and is validated for accuracy by CWOP (Citizens Weather Observation Program).
